It is the discretion of the Child Watch staff to notify a parent/guardian if the infant has been crying for an excessive amount of time.
Policies & Procedures:
- For their safety, all children must be signed in and out by a parent/guardian (18+) upon each visit to Child Watch. The parent/guardian, who signs the child in, must also sign the child out unless prior arrangements have been made with Child Watch Staff. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to check kids in or out of Child Watch.
- Parents/guardians must remain in the Y facility while their child(ren) are in Child Watch.
- Pick-up Tardiness: It is expected that all children be picked up before Child Watch closes. Members must follow the time limit of 2 hours per/day/per child. Parents will receive two reminders regarding this policy but after the third, it may result in suspension from the Child Watch supervisor.
- No food is allowed. Drinks are welcome; please label your child's container.
- Excessive Crying: if a staff member is unable to console a crying child after 15 minutes, the parent will be called and asked to come pick up the child. We will make every effort to comfort your child but we do not want your child to have an unpleasant experience.
- Biting/Aggression: the first and second time a child bites, hits, kicks, punches, or is violent to another child, the parent will be notified immediately and must check the child out for the rest of the day. Following the third reminder, the child will not be allowed to return for 1 week.
- We are obligated by law to report any signs of child abuse to the proper authorities.
- Discipline: Acceptable behavior is encouraged by giving positive “verbal rewards”. Unacceptable behavior may be handled with redirection, distraction, time out, or the parent may be called in.
